S&A Homes Introduces eTech, Ground Breaking Smart Home Automation Technology
March 17, 2015 / Press Release

S&A Homes, Inc. a new home builder in Pennsylvania and West Virginia is excited to introduce e-Tech™, a modern, smart home automation platform that the award winning builder has integrated into each new home it builds beginning with home sales dated March 2015. E-Tech™ offers homebuyers an integrated technology solution that provides superior convenience, innovation and security by streamlining the control of many of the home’s systems through the use of one centralized app that can be placed on a smart phone or tablet.

“It’s exciting to be able to introduce futuristic technology in a home built today,” said Chris Schoonmaker, President of S&A Homes’ Housing Division. “Having the ability to customize a home’s systems from a smart device will give residents unparalleled flexibility and convenience.”

Flexibility and convenience are just some of the benefits that the state-of-the-art e-Tech™ smart home program offers. The ability to automate many of the home’s most important features such as the front door lock, interior and exterior lighting as well as HVAC allows for optimal efficiency and security that a traditional home can’t offer. Owners can now control their thermostat while they are out of town, allow guests into their home remotely and can pre-select lighting scenes they use most often and can even program their HVAC and lighting to run on a pre-specified schedule.

Each S&A home includes a z-wave enabled HVAC system, front door lock, lighting and embedded USB ports. These devices utilize the z-wave signal to “talk” to a centralized z-wave hub which in turn communicates with the app a homeowners places on their smart phone or tablet. Residents also have the option to integrate additional items like their home’s garage doors, security systems or home theater to capitalize on all of the benefits available to them. After-market devices such as z-wave enabled small appliances, irrigation systems and even dog feeders are already offered through mainstream retailers and can also be connected to the e-Tech platform after moving in.

“This level of customization marks something truly revolutionary in the new home industry,” stated Bob Shoemaker, Tech Services & Construction Manager at S&A Homes. “We are on the cusp of an entirely new industry. Those who are truly interested in maximizing the potential of the eTech platform will see the z-wave product market explode soon.”
