The Best Summer Events in Blair CountySummer is nearly here and there are plenty of events in Blair County for residents to enjoy! In addition to some of the area’s best shopping, dining and entertainment, Altoona and Huntingdon are just minutes from Central Pennsylvania’s most scenic state parks and outdoor recreation options.

Blacklight Adventures at Lincoln Caverns
Every Wednesday throughout August, Lincoln Caverns & Whisper Rocks invites families with children ages 10+ for blacklight cave tours! Begin with An Introduction to Speleology – The Study of Caves, an informal, pre-tour presentation, followed by blacklight cavern tours. See glowing speleothems and calcite crystals reveal their spectacular phosphorescent beauty while learning about the caverns’ history and formation. Advance ticket purchase required. Alive @ 5 Concert Series in Altoona
The Railroad City Alive @ 5 Concert Series has an exciting lineup for music lovers of all ages! On Friday, June 21, 2019, the Doobie Others: a Doobie Brothers Tribute Band, will take the stage at 8 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m. with the opening band beginning at 6 p.m. No coolers are permitted. Must show valid ID to purchase alcohol. Carry along chairs are permitted.  No re-entry is allowed.

New this year, attendees may reserve a picnic table for the concert. Large tables seat eight and are available for $20 while smaller tables, available for $10, seat six. Click here to learn more, including the full summer lineup, or to reserve a table.

22nd Annual Native American Pow Wow at DelGrosso Park
Visit DelGrosso Park the weekend of July 20, 2019, for the 22nd Annual Native American Pow Wow Weekend. Festivities include dancing in full regalia, drumming, singing and beautiful arts and unique crafts. All Native American dancers are welcome!

Grand Entry into the dance arena will take place on Saturday, July 20 from noon to 6 p.m., and Grand Entry on Sunday, July 21 will begin at noon. Pow Wow Grounds and Vendor Shopping open at 10 a.m. both days. The Pow Wow will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday (crowd and weather depending – schedule subject to change).
